The easy-to-use Vodafone Mobile Connect USB modem is a small 3G HSDPA enabled portable device which slots into the USB slot of any desktop or laptop running Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh - you now only need one device for all your mobile broadband Internet access needs, irrespective of the type of PC you use. The 3G HSDPA technology was built to deliver throughput speeds of up to 1.8 Mbps for downloads, but expect to experience speeds between 400 Kbps and 800 Kbps with peaks of approximately 1.2 Mbps - offering you instant Internet access with no waiting for installation!

How does it work?

The Vodafone 3G Mobile Connect USB modem is a 3G HSDPA enabled device. Where 3G HSDPA coverage is not available, customers will be able to use  GPRS/EDGE network that already covers most of South Africa. This device is compatible with all Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh-based PCs. The required Vodafone dashboard software for Windows-based PCs to connect to the network is already loaded available on the device and automatically installs as soon as it's plugged into the USB slot of your PC. The Vodafone dashboard software for Apple Macintosh computers is included on a CD in the packaging, and can be installed by following the easy installation process.

What do I get?

Included in the Vodafone Mobile Connect Card (VMCC) packaging is a CD, along with a user manual. The CD contains the Vodafone dashboard software that needs to be installed on your Windows-based laptop before you insert the VMCC into the PCM/CIA slot. The user manual is also available to guide you through the installation process. Please note to only insert the VMCC into the PCM/CIA slot once the software has been installed.

What do I need to get started?

You'll need a Vodafone Mobile Connect USB Modem and SIM card, with a mobile data contract package or data bundle.

System requirements for Personal Computers (PCs):

• Specifically designed for Windows 2000 (SP2 and above), WindowsXP, Apple Macintosh.
• Compatible with Windows 98, 98SE, NT4, Vista and Apple Macintosh but certain patches may be required
• Type II PC USB slot
• Memory 32MB RAM minimum, 64MB recommended
• 100MB minimum of free hard disk space

• Mobile cellular access is subject to coverage and availability of a mobile data service (GPRS, EDGE, 3G HSDPA), and WLAN coverage and availability
• The Vodafone 3G Broadband Mobile Connect Card is not compatible with all desktops or laptops
• Using the 3G network, maximum downlink speed is 384KBps. Maximum uplink is 64KBps
• The 3G HSDPA (mobile broadband) data service may be affected by:
• The number of users accessing the 3G HSDPA network in your cell

• Strength of signal and your distance from the nearest antenna
