eCPCES
Product Purpose
The eCPCES (electronic Comprehensive Patient Care and Education System) was initially developed for the dental school of a leading university (established in 1908) with an innovative curriculum development team. The system combines the logic of the clinical reasoning process with best-practice student didactic methods for teaching dental students in comprehensive patient care within the clinical training environment.
Product Performance
The application is client-server software, featuring modules for patient clinical examinations (medical and dental history), extra-oral and intra-oral assessments, graphical diagnostic charting of dental diseases and conditions, treatment planning and case presentation, patient scheduling (appointment booking), treatment proposals and cost estimations, patient billing and student administration (student sign-off and completion of clinical work).
Before implementing eCPCES, the system was evaluated under experimental conditions and the report was presented at an Africa-Middel East IADR congress. The results showed significant improvements in student clinical performance when comparing the system with the conventional and manual methods of student training.

Product Purpose

(electronic Dental Tutor) is a web-based
training library assisting students to rapidly assess the correct steps
to follow for comprehensive patient care and to
be complaint with acceotable clinical norms and standards.
Product Performance
The e-Tutor's clinical content is recalled via key words
and help function form within the eCPCES, or can be
used as a stand-alone application.It is available at the
dental chair side (clinical setting) or on CD or web access
where dental students train.The e-Tutor's content integrates
with the dental curriculum of the school - thus it enables students
to create synergy between theri clinical training material in
learing objectives.
